Fireball Tool detailed a new modular double-wide tooth block fixture system designed to resolve table interference and rigidity limits on precision welding platens. The design pairs a base tooth-block chassis with interchangeable vertical risers—including 3.5-inch and 13-inch versions—fastened from the underside into a rigid 90-degree assembly. The taller 13-inch riser incorporates a 72-hole face pattern for flexible modular clamping and squaring.

In standard fabrication workflows, single-wide fixture blocks with linear, in-line locating pins often project several inches behind the mounting grid, eating up usable platen space and creating mechanical collisions when fixturing inside tight corners or working on compact welding tables. According to Fireball Tool, placing the locating pins side by side preserves 2 inches of linear adjustment while shaving nearly 3 inches off the rear overhang. This shorter profile allows fabricators to position blocks closer together without mutual interference while providing a broader base to keep tall workpieces square under clamping pressure.

Demonstrated configurations highlight several shop-floor applications, such as holding vertical square tubing perpendicular at arbitrary dimensions (such as a 15-5/8-inch offset) using fence blocks and magnetic shims as repeatable stops. The system also supports dual-action clamping via a double drag clamp that pulls workpieces simultaneously backward and downward, as well as three-axis square pins for edge reference. In addition, secondary auxiliary holes next to the main 3/4-inch mounting bores allow stacking one riser onto another to form horizontal shelves and custom stepped jigs.

While the manufacturer asserts that the wider footprint eliminates out-of-square deflection common to single-row blocks under heavy clamping loads, real-world durability and rigidity under heavy thermal cycles have not yet been evaluated by independent shops. Compatibility across non-proprietary welding table hole patterns and thickness variations also remains subject to specific shop setups.
