The July 2026 guide consolidates the operating boundaries that should sit inside every commercial jobsite flight checklist.
Why this deserves attention
The FAA’s July 6, 2026 Part 107 overview restates the working boundaries for small commercial UAS: visual line of sight, avoidance of manned aircraft, restrictions over people and moving vehicles, daylight or properly lighted twilight operations, three miles of visibility, and a general 400-foot ceiling with the structure allowance.
For jobsite use, the value is operational rather than surprising. The rules belong in a repeatable preflight record with registration, pilot qualification, airspace authorization, site control, weather, people, and waiver status. Mapping software cannot make an otherwise unauthorized or poorly controlled flight compliant.
What to watch
The headline is the start of the question.
01
Current airspace and temporary flight restrictions before every mission
02
Whether the operation crosses people, roads, or moving vehicles
03
Waiver requirements for any planned exception
04
A retained mission record tying pilot, aircraft, site, authorization, and deliverable together
